One of the best things about our jobs is that we develop wonderful relationships with our clients.
As they go through their life journeys, often they take us for the ride.
We designed this couple's first NYC apartment after their cross-country relocation.
They transformed themselves into true New Yorkers, immersing themselves in all of the city's cultural riches.
Realizing there was more to life than the concrete jungle, they purchased a weekend get-away in the famed East Hampton area of Long Island.
It also made our firm re-think our design for the 'His Office'.
Since the restrictive lockdown and many people forced to work from home, the idea of a functioning office took on a higher priority.
We designed this office to be a haven where one could spend many hours of productive and inspiring work.
This was accomplished through the use of layering textures and graphic features in a soft palette of grey and yellow which is then offset by the dramatic built-in shelving and storage.
While sitting at the desk, the user feels a sense of calm and balance while also being visually stimulated by the vignettes of decorative interest.
In the midst of busy downtown Manhattan is this large penthouse apartment.
Walk in and you will no longer feel you are part of the madness below.
Our clients, a young family of four, moved into this colossal floor-through loft from a much smaller and sparsely decorated home.
Therefore, the challenge became clear: create a complete home with a definitive point of view.
The interior architecture of grand arched ceilings and windows informed our design.
Our inspiration, "Modern Roman Apartment meets Park Avenue" informed the color palette of plaster white and soft gray, with hits of navy blue, black, metallic gold, and a few brights for drama.
For this project in rural Blairstown, New Jersey, we transformed an architecturally significant horse farm into a zen retreat honoring both the Frank Lloyd Wright-esque structure and its rustic setting.
The existing Mission-style furniture and color scheme were at odds with the clean, mid-century architecture of the house and the clients' desire for an uncomplicated, soothing interior.
Steps were taken to ensure an effortless flow through the wide-open common space while creating a clear delineation for separate areas of function.
