BSI Hurricane Bahama Shutters are Miami-Dade County Product Control Approved we use a Build Out Frame (BOF) miter cut and welded 1 x 3 x 1/8" (standard) Aluminum Tube that attached to the building (inside clear opening is 1/4" larger then the building opening) then the Shutters attach to the BOF.
The depth of the BOF is governed by the glass separation, furthest outward glass surface to the back of the shutter slats.
Distance from the face of the building to furthest outward glass surface, minus (-) minimum glass separation = Depth of BOF (minimum BOF depth 1).
