Fabritech Incorporated was started by Ed Grundy Jr. in 1986 as a small residential awning company.
Over the years, we have grown into one of the largest and most respected manufacturers of custom canvas products in the Greater New Orleans area, while still remaining a local, family-owned business.
We have earned a proud reputation for our impeccable attention to detail and our high level of customer service, as evidenced by the A+ rating that we have held with the Better Business Bureau since our founding.
Hood awnings are the most popular style of fabric awning.
They feature a traditional single-sloped top with triangular-shaped side panels and a valance running along the bottom perimeter.
They are most often used for door and window applications.
They typically project 3'to 4' out from the building, but can project up to 6' without support posts in certain situations.
Our Hood awnings are typically manufactured with 1"x1" aluminum frames and Sunbrella covers.
Our covers are screwed to the frames using a concealed webbing band to stretch them tighter than can be done with traditional lacing.
All of our awnings are custom built to suit the needs of our customers.
We have a wide variety of frame styles, fabric types, colors, and patterns to give your home or business the perfect look.
Our awnings feature welded aluminum frames with the covers commonly screwed or can be laced to the frames.
Solution-dyed acrylic fabrics are by far the most widely used fabrics for awning applications.
These fabrics are woven from individual fibers that are spun directly from a liquid.
The dye is added to the fiber while still in the liquid state, so the color is even throughout the whole fiber.
This contributes to it's excellent weatherability and superb colorfastness.
Solution dyed acrylic fabrics are naturally mold and mildew resistant.
Although these fabrics are not water proof, they are coated with a water and stain-resistant coating, that will allow them to shed water when installed on the proper pitch (minimum 1:4.)
Prepare a cleaning solution of water and mild soap such as Ivory Snow, Dreft or Woolite (no detergents).
If stubborn stains persist, you can use a diluted chlorine bleach/soap mixture for spot cleaning of mildew, roof run-off or other similar stains (see our Stain Chart for specific recommendations).
Sunbrella fabric does not promote mildew growth, however, mildew may grow on dirt and other foreign substances that are not removed from the fabric.
Remember to protect the area around your Sunbrella fabric if using a bleach solution.
