Clanton's Quality Awning Co. founded in 1929 by Mr. R.W. Clanton was originally named "The Shade Shop."
The company's first location was at the corner of Haskell and McKinney in Dallas, Texas.
Shortly thereafter, the company changed its name to "Quality Shade Co." and then in 1936 changed its name for the very last time to "Clanton's Quality Awning Co."
A Clanton family member remained involved in the business until 1971 when CBF Industries bought the company.
In May of 1975, Calvin and Clara Walker purchased the business from CBF.
