A second generation family owned business, Anne Filkin Lamps & Shades was founded by my mom, Anne Filkin at its current address in Caldwell in 1985. She purchased the 1858 building and my dad who was very handy spent a year enacting some major renovations. They worked well together; they were a real team. Prior to her own shop, my mom sold shades part-time in the store front of my dad's electrical contracting business, Filkin Electric, on Washington Street in Bloomfield.
Filkin Electric was started by my great uncle Leo a century ago in 1912. My mom so loved her business and all the thousands of her customers over the years. She had a great 'eye, style and as so many customers have told me, was lovely, sweet and a real lady. I know, my sisters and I were so lucky to be her daughters. Prior to my parents' passing in 2010, my mom passed on the business to me.

Usually takes a washer fitter shade; the shade rests on a harp and is secured by a finial.
Sometimes needs a shade that is inserted onto the lamp's socket with a bulb then screwed in.

If your shade's exterior fabric is NOT a neutral color (white, off-white, cream, beige, black).
Recovery: Replacing the exterior fabric and interior fabric lining of your shade when it is soiled and/or torn.
If the top or bottom ring becomes detached from the shade it may be possible to have it re-attached.
