In 1993, Southern Shutters opened its doors in North Austin as Southern Shutters.
We rented a building previously used to clean ball-bearings off Howard Lane and N. I35.
The space was odd shaped, with cleaning vats built into the floor.
Due to increasing demand, space quickly became an issue.
In the early years, we relied on larger companies to supply us with raw shutter panels.
However, we needed to control every aspect of the shutters we were installing.
This sent us off to find land upon which we could build our own manufacturing facilities and thus control all aspects of production.
