David Charles Klein Design
David Charles Klein Design is about disrupting the traditional world of interior design by making great design available to all. It's also about my passion for design, unique ability to connect with my clients, and a desire to support them in creating their own beautiful, sacred spaces. I believe that each person is his or her own design aesthetic and that interior design is an outward reflection of who you are on the inside.

When you go out into the world every day, people challenge and question who you are, so you get to come home to a space that reminds you of your identity and reinforces who you are. Total gut remodel and design of a 1/1 on Manhattan's Upper West Side. The apartment had all original tile and kitchen cabinetry and had not been updated since it was built in 1973.

My client wanted a monochromatic grey color scheme to match his sophisticated and minimal sensibility, paired with high gloss white kitchen cabinets and glass tile and shower doors in the bathroom. This added a clean and modern touch and made a smallish apartment feel much more expansive.

Renovation and design project for the master bath of a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom loft in the Chelsea neighborhood of NYC.
Working with the existing marble floor, jacuzzi tub and vanity with marble countertop, I found a beautiful marble, smaller scale, mosaic tile for the walls that was the perfect compliment.
The mosaic pattern was the right scale and shape for the 12x12 square floor tiles original to the space and just too pretty and expensive to replace.
We had the floors re-grouted a fresh bright white, painted the walls and ceiling a very pale, soft grey, replaced the shower plumbing fixtures with a modern cube design and switched out the lighting and installed new mirror-framed medicine cabinets.
This is a classic example of having what I have and making the absolute most of it.
My client was a real estate agent representing the seller and needed to de-clutter and re-imagine the space to make it more functional and enticing for buyers.
The home owner had great taste in furniture but didn't know how to place it to maximize the space and flow.
So by meeting and spending time with him, I was able to completely brighten up, un clutter and transform his space into one that was open, inviting and an even better representation of who he is as a man.
Total gut renovation of a bathroom in a 3 bedroom 2.5 bath row house in Pelham Bay neighborhood of NYC.
Starting with my client's wish for what they called an "old NY meets new NY" design, I combined more traditional elements like the lighting, plumbing fixtures and marble tile counter top with more modern and transitional elements like the large scale, grey stone wall and floor tile, the square-shaped deep soaking tub and wall mounted vanity.
The final result is an eclectic mix of old and new that feels fresh and very distinctive: a space as unique and beautiful as my clients are.
